Is your coffee supplement really just roasted fig?
Yes – it's made from a single ingredient - organic upcycled figs. Figs are superfruits - alkaline, naturally caffeine-free, and help regulate blood pressure. But their most remarkable feature is that they bring out the taste of whatever is mixed with them. You don't have to wonder what it tastes like since it tastes like your favorite coffee.
Can FigBrew coffee supplement be used as a coffee alternative?
Absolutely. Many of our customers use it to completely replace coffee since it tastes very similar but doesn't have the acid or caffeine. It can be mixed with your favorite coffee in the morning then used as a coffee replacement towards bedtime so it doesn't keep you up. We list our various flavored beverages as coffee alternatives on our website for this reason. Mellow Mix is a pre-mixed half-caff blend of coffee and supplement so does not qualify as a coffee alternative.
Can you make espresso with FigBrew coffee supplement?
Yes - you can make a wonderful creamy espresso with lots of crema with either a blend of your favorite coffee and FigBrew coffee supplement or with pure coffee supplement. When using the pure coffee supplement, we suggest a paper filter in the portafilter in the espresso machine or the fine ground fig particles will clog the holes in the portafilter. Aeropress filters work great and can be purchased in volume for less than 1-cent each but any paper filter that covers the bottom of the portafilter will work. What type of coffee is used in Mellow Mix?
Mellow Mix uses a light-roast Central American highland coffee mixed 50/50 with our coffee supplement.
What’s the best way to store FigBrew products?
Roasted fig has a longer shelf-life than coffee and can store for a year in the refrigerator.
How do I prepare Figgee or Mellow Mix?
Both Figgee and Mellow Mix are prepared using most common ground coffee techniques – including drip, pour-over, Chemex, French press, or steeping (cowboy coffee). FigBrew recommend a French press as a simple, inexpensive brewing technique. The brewing process results in grounds that we recommend be composted since they are organic and all-natural. None of our products are instant beverages so do not assume that the ground product will dissolve in hot water. We don't recommend steel mesh filters for any brewing technique since paper filters catch the oils in coffee that can increase cholesterol levels.
How do I edit my subscription?
When you set up your subscription, you receive an email with a link to your personal subscription portal. From there, you can edit, pause, or cancel your subscription. If you no longer have that email, you can visit https://figbrew.com/a/subscriptions/login
to resend it.
Are FigBrew products available in grocery stores in my area?
Your canister says that “a portion of profits will go to support environmentally conscience non-profit organizations”. What non-profit benefits?
We don’t select just one. Each year, FigBrew reviews multiple non-profit candidates that share our goal of driving towards a sustainable world economy – and this starts with reducing the impact on our environment. It’s not hard to do but does require a commitment. Traditionally, we select non-profits with a proven history of effecting positive change. Having said that, we are always open to new ideas so, if you have a favorite non-profit that you feel is worthwhile, please send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will throw the name in the hat.
I live outside of the United States, how do I order?
