2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
½ cup butter
½ cup shortening
1 cup strong brewed Figgee
¼ cup dark unsweetened cocoa powder
⅛ cup ground Figgee
½ cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon pure vanilla
½ cup butter
2 tablespoons dark cocoa powder
¼ cup whole milk
3 ½ cups unsifted powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Strongly brew 1 cup of Figgee, let cool completely.
Lightly butter a 17.5 x 11 baking dish, set aside.
Combine flour and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, shortening, brewed Figgee, cocoa, and ground Figgee. Stir continuously to avoid burning and bring to a steady, low boil.
Pour mixture over flour and sugar.
Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, and vanilla to the mixture.
Mix well until fully combined and smooth.
Pour mixture into a buttered 17.5 x 11 baking dish.
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
While the brownies are baking, add all glaze ingredients to a saucepan over medium heat and bring to a low, steady boil. Beat until smooth.
Remove brownies from the oven when done and pour glaze over hot brownies. Smooth glaze with a spatula and let cool before enjoying.
